Orange County Dance Productions offers a wide array of dance, cheerleading, fitness, and specialty classes, camps and after school programs. Recommended Class Attire :
BALLET: leotard, tights, ballet shoes, hair pulled back off neck and face. Ballet skirts/tutus OK.
JAZZ: Form-fitting dance clothing with jazz shoes. No jeans, jean shorts, or restrictive clothing. Hair should be pulled back off neck and face.
HIP HOP: Stretchy, comfortable dance or “work-out” clothing with comfortable sneakers. No jeans, jean shorts, or restrictive clothing. Hats OK.
CHEER: Comfortable dance or “work-out” clothing with comfortable sneakers. No jeans, jean shorts, or restrictive clothing. Hair should be pulled back off neck and face. Hair bows OK.
ADULT FITNESS CLASSES: Form fitting yoga/dance clothing. Sneakers or socks may be required for certain classes. Please consult your instructor.
Class Descriptions:
Children's Classes
Ballet classes - Ballet is the root of dance and improves balance, poise, strength and confidence. OCDP offers ballet classes in combination classes, specialty classes, and classical ballet.
Cheerleading, Song Pom, & High School Musical - OCDP cheer and pom class are curriculum based for age and experience. In our classes young cheerleaders will learn chants and dances, arm movements, jumps and work on flexibility and strength. For those that want an element of fun to their cheerleading we also offer the basics of cheerleading and dance as a High School Musical theme with songs and movements to match. Most cheerleading classes are taught by former NFL Cheerleader, Kimberly Esmond.
Early childhood ballet/tap/jazz combination classes - OCDP early childhood combination classes are a great option for the first time dancer. These classes consist of the three main genres of dance and teach children coordination, rhythm, and controlled movement to fun themes and songs.
Hip Hop classes - Hip hop classes consist of beginner hip hop moves that are used to make dance combinations to fun, age appropriate music. Each move has an easy to remember name and allows kids to add a dash of their own personality to make it more their style.
Hula/Polynesian Dance - Hula dance is a narrative dance that uses hip motions and arm movements to tell a story. Children with no formal dance experience enjoy this introductory class as well as children that want to learn a new dance form.
Jazz classes - Jazz dance is present in many different venues and forms. Jazz dance thrives in dance schools and remains an essential part of musical theater, pom dance, and is the foundation for most dance forms seen on shows like, So You Think You Can Dance. Once basic moves are mastered personal flair and themes morph the dance form into more advanced dance combinations.
Melody Movement for Toddlers/Preschoolers - Melody Movement is a curriculum based program from the UK that introduces children to movement using natural activities of the body such as running, walking, jumping, hopping skipping and galloping. Children follow the stories of Melody and Milligan Bears on their journeys while developing their coordination, spatial awareness, rhythm, creativity and self-expression. Children enjoy using their imagination with Melody and Milligan while working individually, in partners or as a group. This class is primarily offered in parent and me format but is also offered for older children (ages 4-6) in select cities.
Parent & Me classes - Parent & Me classes are introductory classes to music, dance and movement. In these classes children use their imaginations and begin to move and shake with a little hand holding from Mom or Dad. Music, games, stories, props and crafts are included in these classes.
Pop Star Hip Hop Sing & Dance-
Come join OC Dance for this Glee inspired class. Participants will learn and sing lyrics to their favorite Radio Disney songs such as Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and others while dancing to fun, clean choreography like a true pop star. Moves are basic clean hip hop and jazz dance. Props and crafts will be made for final class. All songs, moves and themes are age appropriate.
Tap classes - Tap classes are offered through OCDP starting at age 6. Tap focuses on rhythm and lower body movement. Tap classes for ages 2.5-5.5 are combined with ballet or ballet and jazz to introduce children to dance and prepare them for a 45 minute session of tap.
Adult Dance Classes
Ballroom Dance - OCDP offers ballroom and social dance in Laguna Niguel and Rancho Santa Margarita. Classes are instructed by MFA in Dance, Jamie McCann and generally include both smooth and rhythm dances. Sessions are formatted for beginners to learn in a fun and non-threatening environment. Call OCDP for session dates and exact locations.
Adult Dance/Fitness Classes
Barre Body Sculpt- Barre Body Sculpt is a incorporates dance conditioning, basic ballet, pilates, and yoga movements along with toning exercises to strengthen and tone out the entire body and increase your flexibility. Movements are done along the barre as well as center floor to energizing and motivating music. Class concludes with yoga stretches and savasana to lengthen out muscles and relax the body and mind. Pair Barre Body Sculpt and Barre Body Blast for that overall tone and burn! Please bring yoga mat.
Barre Body Blast- Barre Body Blast, a spin-off of Barre Body Sculpt incorporates more of a cardio workout while honing in on the target areas of your core, seat and thighs. Ballet and toning movements are done along the barre as well as center floor to tone and lengthen out those trouble areas. Class concludes with yoga stretches and savasana to lengthen out muscles and relax the body and mind. Pair Barre Body Sculpt and Barre Body Blast for that overall tone and burn! Please bring yoga mat.
Burlesque Body and Abs- Bring out your inner Pussycat Doll in this fun and sultry fitness dance class. You will lengthen and tone your entire body while dancing to your favorite burlesque and cabaret music. Learn moves inspired by Bob Fosse, famous Pop Icons and your favorite Broadway shows while getting a great cardio workout. This class will end with strengthening and toning abdominal work to carve out your abs and leave you feeling fabulous. No dance experience necessary. Ages 18+ (Bring mat)
Cardio Hip Hop/Jazz- Get fit and have fun while learning hip hop and jazz moves suited for both beginners and those returning to dance. Considered a cardio class, participants will learn individual jazz and hip hop moves to form combinations. Class also includes toning exercises and lengthening stretches.
Cardio Latin Jazz-If you are looking to burn calories, sweat, tone your entire body, and have fun doing it, this is the class for you! This upbeat fitness class is a total body workout that incorporates spicy Latin moves, jazz dance, and toning exercises to receive a fun and beneficial workout. Be prepared to shake those hips as you tone out your body and get a fantastic cardio workout. No dance experience necessary. Ages 18+
Yoga Booty Ballet -
Come join us for this dance infused fitness class. The YBB phenomenon started in LA, moved to DVD and is now available to you! This workout is a fun, spirited way to get a great workout burning over 400 calories. Participants work their body with a hybrid of hatha yoga, exhilarating cardiovascular dance, and the grace and strength training of ballet movements. This class is geared towards men and women who want the strength and muscle conditioning of yoga, but also crave a great cardio class to increase their endurance. No dance, ballet or yoga background is necessary.
Camps
OCDP Dance & Cheer Camps - Orange County Dance Productions offers an array of summer camps. Camps are offered as one to three hour increments for one week. Dance camps are great alternative for children who enjoy dance classes but can only commit to a week or two of dance in the summer.
